The Louisville Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Teddy Abrams, will present a celebratory mix of classical and contemporary pieces. From beloved summer classics like Vivaldi’s “Summer,” and “The Star Spangled Banner” to crowd favorites like John Williams’ “Main Title” from Star Wars and Tchaikovsky’s “Finale” from 1812 Overture, Op. 49, there’s something for the whole family in this summertime celebration.

Oregon Bach Festival: Fauré’s Requiem
Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is one of the 19th century’s most beloved choral masterpieces. Unlike traditional requiems, it emphasizes peace and solace over fear and judgment. The concert opens with the second annual installment of the OBF “New Transcriptions” Project, featuring composer Oswald Huỳnh, and a signature performance of Luciano Berio’s Folk Songs by “charismatic star” (The Boston Globe) mezzo-soprano, Fleur Barron.

Los Alamos Concert Association: Akropolis Reed Quintet
The GRAMMY® Award-winning Akropolis Reed Quintet, celebrating their 16th season as “a sonically daring ensemble who specializes in performing new works with charisma and integrity” (BBC Music Magazine), will perform a dynamic program presented by the Los Alamos Concert Association in Los Alamos at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 7, in the Duane Smith Auditorium.
As a special bonus, composer Oswald Huỳnh will introduce his piece These few specks of time. After the concert enjoy Dinner with the Artists. Members of the Akropolis Quintet will be seated at tables in Beef and Leaf Restaurant in Los Alamos among dinner attendees.

Ozinga Chapel’s towering, 46-rank pipe organ comes alive as IPO lowers the curtain on its 47th season. Possessing nearly unparalleled technical facility, a brilliant ear for tonal color, and innovative programming style, Peter Richard Conte is one of the most admired orchestral organists of this era. Appointed in 1989 as the fourth Wanamaker Grand Court Organist, Conte presides over the world’s largest fully functioning musical instrument (29,000 pipes) at Macy’s Center City in downtown Philadelphia. Beethoven Symphony No. 9
IPO lowers the curtain on their 46th season with a resounding performance of one of music’s most celebrated and well-known works, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. With its debut performance having taken place in Vienna on May 7, 1824, IPO’s performance will commence nearly 200 years to the day after it first came alive. Also, on the bill for this epic evening will be the third installment by IPO Composer-in-Residence Oswald Huỳnh, as well as Caroline Shaw’s Seven Joys. In 2013, at just 30 years old, Shaw became the youngest recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Music for her composition Partita for 8 Voices. Kimberly E. Jones (soprano), Leah Dexter (Mezzo-Soprano), Ryan Townsend Strand (Tenor), Bill McMurray (Baritone) and the Chicago Community Chorus will lend their thunderous talents to the evening’s program.
